Trumpet Hearing Aid

Trumpet Hearing Aid
These unusal pair of Victorian ear trumpets were discovered as
part of a property clearance and are expected to be sold at auction.
The antique hearing aid is held on either side of the wearer's
head by a flexible metal band allowing it to fit inside both ears.
Sebastian Pryke, a fine antiques specialist, said it was
impossible to find an exact date or location for the trumpets, which gives the
user amplified stereo sound.
The amplifier, made of papier maché, has been valued at about
£300.
Mass-produced instruments did not become available until the start of the
19th century and were made from materials such as tin, rubber and brass.
This hearing aid used
in the 1940s sells for $450 today.

In the early 1900s, this
hearing-aid gadget allowed the user to hear by holding the piece up to the ear
...

... with this piece serving as a
microphone. You could regulate the volume to tune out anything you didn't want
to hear. It sells for $150.
