POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide diagnostic assessment and evaluation of hearing loss. Prescribe and dispense hearing aids and other communication devices for clients. Plan and direct treatment/rehabilitation for clients. Work closely with management in providing assistance in all necessary areas in launching a new office in Saskatchewan.  Some Travel required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

bulletAccept referrals and screen clients, by walk-in, professional or telephone referral, in order to assess feasibility and eligibility Hearing services
bulletAssess hearing loss using diagnostic evaluations; prescribe device for hearing loss
bulletDispense hearing aids to clients and educate consumers on appropriate care and maintenance of hearing aids and assistive devices
bulletAct as a resource for, liaise, and consult with other professionals, counsellors, agencies, and services in relation to confidential client information

Daily Duties

bullet Discuss hearing problems with clients and help them adjust to hearing loss.
bullet Use test instruments and standard evaluation procedures to test clients' hearing 
bullet Identify and evaluate hearing problems.
bullet Discuss test results with clients, provide information about funding sources and help clients select appropriate hearing instruments or devices.
bullet Take ear impressions for use in the manufacture of hearing aids if required
bullet Fit and adjust hearing aids.
bullet Provide advice on the use of hearing instruments.
bullet Perform follow up examinations and adjust devices as necessary.
bullet Program, service and make minor repairs on hearing aids and related equipment.

Administration: 

bulletKeep accurate audiological records in relation to client files, test results, treatment and follow up

Student/Staff Supervision:

bullet Provide training and supervision for students in direct service activities
bullet Provide reports on performance as required

Community Education:

bullet Provide educational programs for client groups and individuals
bullet Co-ordinate information and participate in specific programs such as community or consumer workshops related to hearing health issues

Professional Development:

bullet Attend all department and agency staff meetings
bullet Keep up to date with relevant legislation and trends

Line of Responsibilty:

bullet Reports to President, Jim Gibbons 

Qualifications:

bulletDegree in Audiology, Registered with SASLPA (Audiologist)
bulletLicensed Hearing Aid Practitioner- Must be Nationally Board Certified 
bulletExperience with prescribing and dispensing hearing aids
bulletDemonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
bulletComputer Skills
bulletSales Ability
bulletValid Driver's License
bulletVehicle Required

bulletThey should enjoy compiling, recording and analyzing test results, working with people of all ages (particularly senior citizens) and working with different types of equipment and technology.
